Sedation Dentistry in Fishers, IN

Sedation Dentistry in Fishers, IN Dental anxiety is something that a lot of people are familiar with. Dr. Brent Moore recognizes this and has been trained in a hospital setting to use IV sedation on his patients. Sedation dentistry provides an experience that many of our Fishers, IN patients truly appreciate and enjoy. Anxious, tense patients can feel more relaxed before and during a dental treatment. They also feel no pain during a dental procedure.

Dr. Moore trained in IV sedation at Indiana University School of Dentistry Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery clinic for seven months. He also trained for two months at IU hospital in operating rooms with patients who were undergoing general anesthesia. He is licensed by the State of Indiana for light IV sedation. These experiences mean that Dr. Moore is highly qualified to safely perform sedation dentistry.

What happens during IV sedation?

You remain conscious during conscious IV sedation dentistry. You will also be able to understand and respond to requests from your dentist.

However, you may not remember much (or anything at all) about what went on because of two things:

  1. IV sedation induces a state of deep relaxation and a feeling of not being bothered by what’s going on.
  2. The drugs used for IV sedation produce either partial or full memory loss (amnesia) for the period of time when the drug first takes effect until it wears off. As a result, time will appear to pass very quickly and you will not recall much of what happened. Many people remember nothing at all. So it may, indeed, appear as if you were asleep during a procedure.

Dr. Moore will supervise and monitor your vital signs and condition during the entire process, so trust that you are in good hands while undergoing sedation dentistry with us. Our caring team will also make you feel very comfortable during your entire stay with us.

In addition to IV sedation, Dr. Moore also offers oral sedation dentistry and inhalation conscious sedation dentistry using nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to accommodate patients’ needs and anxieties. We will gladly discuss your various options with you so you can make well informed decisions about taking any form of sedation.
